A bustling city is like a gorgeous dress. While a beautiful dress is made by cotton spinning and yarn weaving, a prosperous place is formed by the intertwining stories of every ordinary person. Throughout the years, The Mills has witnessed the development of Hong Kong and Tsuen Wan, where many heart-warming stories took place. The Memory of Herb is an adaptation of a short novel written by Ms Chan Wai-yee (Chan Wai). It depicts an average modest woman who struggles to make a living at a weaving factory. Through her experience of joy, anger, sorrow and happiness, we see the picture of her life, and also different kinds of changes that took place in Tsuen Wan under economic growth. The production is conceived and curated by renowned theatre director Olivia Yan. Under the spell of fabric by stylist Kay Wong from Fashion Clinic, The Mills is transformed into a music performance stage. Together with Veronica Lee and Lily Hong from a local girl band Arm Charm, singer-songwriter Olga Chung, as well as theatre actor Fung Chi Yau, the team presents a retro-yet-original Cabaret-style light comedy. In the finale performance of “Threading Through Time”, audience will see the hints of connection between all four stories.
